Police warn holidaying students to behave

POLICE are gearing up to defend the of beaches North Stradbroke Island as the school holidays approach.

Officers have been preparing for an influx of senior high school students, which they are concerned could be a detriment to the island’s ”reputation as a safe holiday destination for all”. Additional police will reinforce the officers already posted at Dunwich Station and Point Lookout Police Beat.

Inspector Peter Harding, Wynnum District, encouraged teens and their parents to act responsibly.“We are urging parents to consider the possible consequences of providing alcohol to young people, also reminding them that a decision to supply alcohol to an underage child could result in fines of up to $3000,” he said.
