A MAN, 40, is in a serious condition with spinal injuries after falling 20m from a cliff on Stradbroke Island overnight.

The man fell from Point Lookout on Moongalba Rd onto Frenchmans Beach about 10.15pm.

He was conscious but in a serious condition with back injuries when paramedics arrived.

CareFlight chopper 889 was due to arrive at Stradbroke Island about 12.10am but the landing sight disappeared under water after the tide rose.

At 1.30am the chopper was planning to relocate to the Point Lookout Bowls Club while police tried to provide light for the chopper.
